Part-time 20 hours per week, Monday 8.00am to 12.00pm, Thursday & Friday 8.00am to 5.00pm (Some flexibility available)
NationWide Laboratories, as an independent veterinary diagnostic laboratory, are dedicated to the improvement of animal health through direct support of veterinary practices in the UK and worldwide. Nationwide Laboratories also provide food and water testing services to the food industry. We have been delivering service for over 30 years. NationWide Laboratories is a trading entity of National Veterinary Services Ltd. (NVSL).
What you will be doing
- Sample reception: ensuring samples received match the submission form and are suitable for the tests requested; that the sample and submission demographics match; coding samples for tests; assigning samples to correct laboratory section.
- Office duties; accurately entering results into the LIMS, liaising with the office staff, preparing completed documentation/samples for those referred to other laboratories.
- Laboratory duties: Media preparation. Preparation and testing of food and water microbiology samples including tests for Salmonella, Listeria, E.Coli and TVC.
- Ensures equipment they are using or responsible for is safe for use, appropriately maintained and any required daily monitoring records are accurate and up to date.
- Monitors the stocks of media and consumables and their correct storage, as required
- In general, responsibility for delivering assigned areas of work, liaising with the Section Head and colleagues as necessary, but working as integral part of the laboratory team to execute the efficient operation of the laboratory.
- Adherence to written Standard Operating Procedures, Quality Controls, and Health & Safety rules.

Who we are looking for
- Excellent attention to detail.

- A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience (desirable)
- Qualification in appropriate subject.
- Demonstrates a good understanding of the important elements of laboratory testing.
